Miss Rowbotham taught us the signs to learn our new English text. As a class, we learnt the signs and then drew a story. This method helps us learn sentence structure.

LKS2 Sports Day

Children took part in ten events including sack race, hockey, egg and spoon and relay.

Medal Day Reward

A fun filled morning, playing games, exploring. And making dens. This was followed by a huge picnic and ice pops.

Royal Wedding Celebrations

As part of our British Values, the children spent the day learning about our Royal Family and the forthcoming wedding. Children took part in a group problem solving activity to find out who unwrapped the wedding presents. Next they wrote acrostic poems for the happy couple. Lunch was eaten picnic style in the hall before they decorated cupcakes and make celebratory mocktails. They finished off the afternoon by designing commemorative plates and making boxes for their cupcakes.

Forensic Science Workshop

As part of Medal day, children took part in a Forensic Science Workshop learning how police solve crimes by using evidence such as DNA, fingerprints, footprints and other clues.

Egyptian Dance part 2

As part of our Dance lessons we are focusing on Ancient Egypt. Today the children travelled back in time to the banks of the Nile River and carried out tasks such as bathing, washing clothes and gathering water to water their crops.

Mothers Day

We decided to spend time on Friday making Mothers Day cards for our very lovely mums. Each child wrote down a series of qualities that their mum had such as: kindness, be brave, beautiful, generous. These were written on to the petals of a flower for each mum to reveal. Happy Mothers Day to you all from Year 3/4 DL.

World Book Day 2018

The children and staff came to school dressed as characters from their favourite books. Our class went over to Nursery to share stories with the children. Year 3/4 really enjoyed reading the stories and the little children enjoyed listening to them. We then went back to class to find a mysterious object waiting for us......

Topic Homework Projects

As part of their Stone Age Topic, the children were given the chance to complete a mini project for their homework. The children and their parents worked hard to resource an area of the Stone Age such as weapons and tools, or homes. The projects were very different and full of interesting facts. We hope you enjoy looking through the projects. A huge thank you to all the parents who helped out or encouraged their children to take part in this extra homework.

Key to Life RE Bus

Year 3/4 visited the RE Bus to take part in a workshop on the life of Jesus Christ. The children enjoyed the experience very much especially using the interactive walls which changed and revealed information when touched. It was a unique way to learn all about the key events in the life of Jesus Christ.

Time Travellers from the Stone Age!

As part of our Stone Age to Iron Topic the children wrote open questions to ask the time travellers who visited us from the Bronze Age. Travellers were telling us how bronze had started to change their lives. Our time travellers were very knowledgeable about the past.

Fossil Making

As part of our Science Topic, the children learnt about how fossils were made and about Palaeontologist Mary Anning. The children made their own seashell fossils using salt dough and plaster of paris. The results are stunning. Well done Year 3/4DL.

Traction Man is Here!

Our English, this term, is based on the book 'Traction Man is Here!" By Mini Grey. The children have learnt the Makaton signs for the sink mission to help them write their own version of the story.

PE with Year 3/4

As part of this term's PE lessons, Year 3/4 took part in a series of gym lessons taught by our SSCO. The children learnt how to get the apparatus out and how to put it away correctly. They worked in groups and focused on travelling over, under and around the apparatus as well as exploring ways to move between the apparatus stations.

Yr 3/4 trip to Chester

As part of their topic, Year 3/4 visited the Dewa Centre in Chester. They took part in several activities including a march through the city with a Roman gladiator. In the Roman garden, the children were taught how to march in testido formation just like the Roman armies. The children thoroughly enjoyed experiencing life as a Roman soldier.
